Prayers

Prayer for Comfort

"Lord god, Father of mercies and God of all comfort: We thank you for your care in this time of trial and sadness. Console and comfort these your servants with assurance of your tender compassion and unfailing love; through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Friends of mine lost their child today. I am filled with grief and sorrow for their sadness. I wish I could of known the child and of seen their happiness had this not happened. I send a prayer for them and their baby.

Prayer for the Grieving

"Merciful God, comfort your servants whose hearts grieve, and grant that they may so love and serve you in this life that, together with this child, they may obtain the fullness of your promises in the world to come; through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Almighty God,

Father, + Son, and Holy Spirit,

Bless you now and forever.

Amen.

Harvest of Herbs - Beauty and the feast

Here are three recipes I found in an article from an old Harrowsmith. The article was titled Harvest of Herbs - Beauty and the feast BY: Helen Molitor

Salmon Chowder
1 medium onion, finely sliced
1 Tbsp. salad oil
1 large potato, cut into small cubes
1 cup water
1 cup cooked salmon or arctic char
2 cups milk
1/2 tsp. lime or lemon juice
1-2 Tbsp. 'Gem' marigold blossoms

Brown the onion in the oil, add potato and water and simmer for about 15 minutes, until potato is tender and water is reduced. Then add fish chunks and milk, heat through, and a minute or two before serving, add juice and blossoms.

Sauce Cerfeuil
2 Tbps. flour
1 1/2 Tbsp. butter
1 cup water or fish stock
2 Tbsp. finely chopped chervil

Mix and cook the flour in melted butter until it begins to pull away from the pan, about 1 minute. Add the liquid, beating vigorously with a wire whisk, then add chervil and keep at a very low simmer for 2 or 3 minutes. To fully release the chervil flavour, allow the sauce to sit for several minutes before serving.

Woodland Nymph Dressing
1 cup loosely packed mint leaves (ginger, lime, pineapple or a mixture)
1/3 cup chilled fruit juice
2/3 cup mayonnaise

Mix mint leaves with fruit juice and blend for 3 minutes at low speed. Then gradually mix in mayonnaise by spoon or wire whisk.

Signet Marigold Golden Gem

Chervil
Mint leaves

Enjoy!

International Institute of Not Doing Much - IINDM: Sophisticated life in the slow lane

How to slow down

[Slow mastery is demonstrated in the face of having lots to do.]

1.Put your feet up, and stare idly out of the window. Warning: Do not attempt this while driving.
notamused2.Do one thing at a time. Remember multitasking is a moral weakness (except for women, who have superior brain function).
3.Ponder, take your time. Do not be pushed into answering questions. A response is not the same as an answer.
4. Slowly learn our Slow Manifesto.
5. Yawn often. Medical studies have shown lots of things, and possibly that yawning may be good for you.
6. Spend more time in bed. You have a better chance of cultivating your dreams (not your aspirations.)
7.Read the slow stories.
